How to collaborate
(download pdf with details)

Interartive is a platform where artists, art theorists and researchers, students and users can locate and exchange information about contemporary art.
If you are an artist or art theorist interested in making your work known to a wider public, here you can find some information about the content of the magazine and get an idea about different options of collaboration.
Through the publication of TEXTS Interartive encourages reflection and critical thought; at the same time, the VIRTUAL GALLERY enables the on-line development of curatorial activity. The spherical approach to art theory and practice helps participants reach virtually distant corners of the world and create networks of contacts that would be impossible to create with any other means.
What really helps in this sense is the very structure of Interartive magazine, that enables a multicultural and multilingual approach. The diverse backgrounds of Interartive members and our extensive network of collaborators have elevated the subject of translation to a crucial concept.
The main LANGUAGES of reference are Spanish and/or English, but collaborators are encouraged to send their text translated in their mother language, if they wish. Thus, apart from the version in Spanish and/or English, the texts are also published in Italian, Portuguese, Greek, French, Catalan and German. This way, authors can find a wide reading audience for their texts and spread their ideas beyond the borders of their countries.
In all respects, our intention is to approach the artistic and cultural complexity of contemporary scene from a perspective that encompasses theory and practice.
Texts
Every month, the editorial team invites authors or receives proposals from theorists, curators, writers, artists and critics. The proposals are evaluated to ensure the quality of the published texts and galleries.  Interartive Texts mainly include articles, interviews and notes.
The articles are published under a Creative Commons license, following guidelines that ensure the integrity of the articles and the confidence of the authors. This way, author rights are respected, while at the same time the knowledge created can be shared on the internet.
ARTICLES. Our articles can be essays of academic rigor or more free style reflections that focus on the contemporary cultural and artistic panorama. The primary objective of the magazine is to reflect on the reality surrounding us, as well as to contemplate on different fields of knowledge.
For this matter, Interartive creates an archive whose main axis is built on interdisciplinary and interlinguistic interests. Every issue of the magazine hosts about seven or eight articles written in different languages that belong to different fields of contemporary knowledge –for example, literature, cinema, theatre etc. Every few months, Interartive publishes special issues with specific subjects, such as issues dedicated to Digital Art, to Art and Football, the Crisis, Biennials and Art Exhibitions.
INTERVIEWS. In order to approach contemporary culture from the inside, allowing the voices of its “protagonists” to be heard, each issue includes an interview with someone from the artistic field, such as artists, curators, art specialists; the interviewees express their views regarding their work and the contemporary cultural panorama.
NOTES. The notes are a different way of communication, in a more informal, free and dynamic form of reflection. Our Notes section is open to all kinds of participants: anyone can send these brief poetic and insightful texts, that are often accompanied by images. These mails that are sent directly to our “mailbox” are short texts, poetic or critical, that reflect on everyday life, a work of art, an exhibition, a particular place or experience.
CALLS/NEWS. This section publishes calls for artists, curators and theorists; thus it becomes a point of information for the artistic community and gives visibility to a variety of cultural initiatives beyond their usual channels of distribution.
Artistic Practices
One of the main objectives of Interartive is to enable the public to have a direct access to contemporary art production. The sections of the Virtual Gallery, Art-In-Progress and Net.Art act like a virtual museum, where each visitor can experience the works of different artists. The direct and close relationship established with the artists participating in these sections allows us not only to follow their latest creations, but also to continually expand our circle of collaborators.
VIRTUAL GALLERY. The Virtual Gallery is the “heart” of each issue of the on-line magazine: Through a balance of word and image, this space highlights the work of a particular artist. Every month a curator collaborating with Interartive selects a work –or a series of works- of an artist and presents them through a gallery of images or video, accompanied by a brief curatorial text.
The text is not explanatory; it is more like a commentary or a brief thought about the work, a poetic approach that introduces the visitors to the work. It aims to help visitors understand the work, but above all, to stimulate, open their imagination and sensitivity to receive it.
In order to make the text accessible to a broad audience, and to emphasize the international character of the visual artwork, the text of the virtual gallery is presented in the five main languages of Interartive (Spanish, English, Greek, Portuguese and Italian).
Although the main objective of the Virtual Gallery is to discover young artists, the space is occasionally dedicated to the latest creations by well-known artists. They are all presented with an eye for the quality of the work, without a distinction between young and established artists.
The artists come from the worldwide art scene and their works cover a wide range of artistic media: painting, installation, video art, performance, sculpture, photography, drawing, engraving and street art.
When the next issue of Interartive is published, the galleries are archived in the section of the Previous Virtual Galleries, with links to the work, the text, the artist’s resume and, in some cases, a link to the following works by the same artist, presented on the page of Art-In-Progress.
ART-IN-PROGRESS. The Interartive Virtual Galleries have marked a close collaboration with a significant number of artists. In many cases, this collaboration has evolved into a continuous exchange of work and ideas. This is mirrored in Art-In-Progress, where our collaborators present their “newborn” artworks or their “works-in-progress”, showing images or videos of their work –without the mediation of a curatorial text. Whenever there is an explanatory text, it is by the artists themselves.
Although most of the artists presented here have already collaborated with us in the Virtual Gallery, sometimes the presentation of an artist in Art-In-Progress precedes the publication of a Virtual Gallery dedicated to his/her work.
Artists have their own sections in this page, that is frequently updated, so that the one that comes out first is the artist’s most recent work.
Rather than being a simple on-line portfolio, Art-In-Progress acts as a documentation of art in its making, where the visitors can find a gateway to the latest artistic developments, whereas the artists can find a space to interact with the public.
NET.ART. As an online platform, Interartive has the means needed to bring the experience of Internet Art to the public. The Net.Art page consists of images and external links to works of net art selected by our collaborators. Thus, Interartive acts like a “virtual museum” that gives visitors the opportunity to have a direct experience of art online.
Events
PROJECTS. Apart from the magazine, Interartive is also a cultural association that carries out art events, meetings with artists and curatorial projects offline.
The members of Interartive come from different parts of the world, and through contacts with artists, curators, museum directors, art centers, academic environments and creative groups, they seek to build a network of partnerships –with spaces and people- so as to propose and carry out such projects.
Some of the projects carried out during the past years can be found in the projects page.

If you are interested in participation in any of the sections of the Interartive platform, if you want to make any suggestion or proposal or to ask for more information, please contact us at info[at]interartive.org
