Si tuviésemos que caracterizar la estética de la Postmodernidad, probablemente uno de sus rasgos más destacables sería la recurrencia a la cita, el pastiche, la referencia; el desarrollo de una estética del archivo.

Más allá de los debates entorno al término postmodernidad –si realmente existió o si ha sido superada por la Hipermodernidad- lo que nos interesa plantear aquí es cómo en la Era de Internet esta estética sigue plenamente vigente.

Two brothers kill each other in the battle. One is honored, the other is left unburied. His sister defies the tyrant’s order to leave him unburied. She confronts the tyrant and is killed for standing up for her beliefs, for standing up for human dignity.

Following the road of the “Med Art Spaces” project, I contact Didem Özbek, artist and co-founder of PiST/// Interdisciplinary Project Space, in Istanbul. The big Turkish city, on the crossroad among Asia, Europe and Middle East, represents today one of most interesting places in the Mediterranean related to the diffusion of contemporary art.

Hackers create the possibility of new things entering the world. Not always great things, or even good things, but new things. In art, in science, in philosophy and culture, in any process of knowledge where data can be gathered, where information can be extracted from it, and where in that information new possibilities for the world are produced, there are hackers hacking the new out of the old.
