ARTErra | Rural Artistic Residency
ARTerra is an artistic residency located in Central Portugal in the green and friendly village of Lobão da Beira.
The residency aims is to be a place where artists can work and develop their projects and where cultural and ideas exchange can take place.
ARTErra is a private initiative but we have partnerships with the Town Hall and other interesting community entities: we have been active in the Tondela district for quite a few years and the community is welcoming to our ongoing projects and the artists we host.
Annually we spread a “Call for Artists” and it will mean a lot to me if you will be willing to post our call on your website or Facebook page.
During their stay at ARTerra the artists will be hosted in the main house with a fully equipped kitchen at their disposal and rooms of different size (they can accommodate up to 4 people) for individuals or groups. We offer three studios and a recording room to our residents. The studios, surroundend by a big garden, a small animal yard and an orchard, are spacious and bright spaces perfect to do some research and develop your project in a very relax and comfy environment.
We have a workroom in the main square of the village where small exhibitions, talks and performances can be presented. This is the perfect place where to do “try out” and show your work. During the years we have built a strong relationship with the people of Lobão da Beira who are open and curious about ARTerra artists’ works and are willing to participate in our ongoing projects.
We accept application from artists who work in all disciplines and at any stages of their career.
Our “Call for Artists 2016” will be open until the 15th of February 2016. We host artists at every stage of their career and working with different media and in different discipline (for instance; painting, sculpture, music, theatre, writing, dancing, visual art etc..).
